Cuz I needed another hobby!...Gun Grips
So I had all these beautiful wood scraps left around from making instruments.....why not make some gun grips???
These Colt 1911 style grips (above) are a pretty easy place to start.... Making them was the easy part....this set is hand checkered, the old school way with ridiculously tiny files and cutters. At 3-1/2 hours of labor, just for the checkering, I don't do many of these....but it's nice to know I can!
These Ruger Mark III target grips were a little more challenging. More cut-out detail on the backside to fit the gun....and hand shaped on the outside to fit your hand (well this set is mine....so it's made to fit MY hand)
This is a little stand I made to make it easier (and safer) to load the black powder revolver....complete with "dimples" to line up the lead bullets ahead of time!
